About 7 years ago I heard a pretty phenomenal song called Judith by a band called a Perfect Circle. I was getting tired of the music I heard on the radio and I was having a hard time finding something totally NEW and ORIGINAL. By hearing Judith I had found a new treasure and I wasn’t about to let it go. Talking about my new findings to a friend he told me that APC was a side band for Maynard, the vocalist. His real band was Tool and I should definitely listen to them.
He then gave me some CD’s to listen and a song, Schism, rang a bell. It turns out that I had seen the video to this song on MTV2 and I remember that I could barely watch it. It freaked the hell out of me (bear in mind that I was about 14), but it struck me nonetheless. So I kept on listening to the music, searching for the lyrics, reading about the band, exploring their web page and what not. Little by little the music started to hypnotize me, I was enthralled by it. If I knew even one verse of a song, I would sing it at the top of my lungs, whatever curse word they sang, I sang it too.
So, it’s been more or less 5 years in which I really started appreciating their art. While I listen to their albums, I can definitely see the evolution in their music and the growth as a band. I have a lot of favorite songs, because each one hits me in a different spot. They strike a different cord in me and I like it. So, I decided to share with you guys one of my favorite songs by them: Parabola. You can find this song in the Lateralus album. Their videos are out of this world and they do make you think about ANYTHING and EVERYTHING. So, sit back, relax and enjoy this masterpiece by MY FAVORITE BAND:
AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!! LOVE IT!!!!
I want you to know
That I’m happy for you
I wish nothing but
The best for you both
An older version of me
Is she perverted like me?
Would she go down on you in a theatre?
Does she speak eloquently?
And would she have your baby?
I’m sure she’d make a really excellent mother
‘Cause the love that you gave that we made
Wasn’t able to make it enough for you
To be open wide
No
And every time you speak her name
Does she know how you told me you’d hold me
Until you died?
And I’m here to remind you
Of the mess you left when you went away
It’s not fair to deny me
Of the cross I bare that you gave to me
You, you, you oughta know
You seem very well
Things look peaceful
I’m not quite as well
I thought you should know
Did you forget about me
Mister Duplicity
I hate to bug you in the middle of dinner
It was a slap in the face
How quickly I was replaced
And are you thinking of me when you fuck her?
The love that you gave that we made
Wasn’t able to make it enough for you
To be open wide
No
And every time you speak her name
Does she know how you told me you’d hold me
Until you died?
And I’m here to remind you
Of the mess you left when you went away
It’s not fair to deny me
Of the cross I bare that you gave to me
You, you, you oughta know
Oooh
Oooh
Oooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh
Cause the joke that you laid in the bed that was me,
And I’m not gonna fade
As soon as you close your eyes
No
And every time I scratch my nails
Down someone else’s back
I hope you feel it
And can you feel it?
And I’m here to remind you
Of the mess you left when you went away
It’s not fair to deny me
Of the cross I bare that you gave to me
You
And I’m here to remind you
Of the mess you left when you went away
It’s not fair to deny me
Of the cross I bare that you gave to me
You, you, you oughta know
One of my all-time favorites! This is an excellent song for when you just broke-up with whatever sleez ball you were with or if it’s been years after everything went down and stop and wonder why the heck you were with him in the fist place. The bastard!
So, ladies…. Sing this at the top of you lungs and I recommend going all out for this one. Heck! tear your shirt, mess your hair… whatever, but just feel this as the way it’s intended to be.
